WALKING SAFE COVID 19 GUIDELINES - RETURN TO SOCIALLY DISTANCED WALKS AND EVENTS

COVID19 risk assessments are available on request and have been compiled using guidance from the Chartered Institute for the Management of Sport and Physical Activity (CIMPSA) and British Mountaineering Council (BMC) 

This document is to help Nottingham Fitness Meetup Group return to walks safely. These guidelines currently apply to England only, and have been produced in line with the Government guidance on public spaces, outdoor activity and exercise published on 30 May 2020, which can be read on the Gov.uk website.

INTRODUCTION

Based on the guidelines released by the Government and other fitness, sports and walking associations, we have drawn up a series of practical guidelines to enable us to take part in events safely, where the local environment allows.

These guidelines apply to allow an adapted return to Nottingham Fitness Meetup Group events and walks. In a way that is in line with Government advice and helps to prevent the spread of COVID-19. They include measures to limit hand to shared surface contact and minimise unnecessary interactions with others.
 

At all times, members should adhere to the Government’s social distancing guidelines (staying at least 1m away from others but ideally 2m), and practice public health advice for hygiene.

Given the length of time activity has been suspended, it is advised that anyone returning to activity eases themselves back in to walking gently.

Important: do not leave your home if government advice means you should stay at home because you or someone you live with has or has had symptoms of covid-19, or you are in the most vulnerable category and have been advised to shield from the coronavirus.

Please do not attend the walk if you or anyone in your family have had symptoms of Covid-19 within the last 14 days or if you have been in contact with anyone who is self-isolating with symptoms of Covid-19 within the last 14 days.

If you become unwell with Covid-19 symptoms or have a positive test for coronavirus within 14 days of attending a walk please contact the us as soon as possible.

Your online registration for classes may be used for the purposes of supporting NHS Track and Trace should this be required.

GUIDANCE FOR MEMBERS ON THE DAY OF THE EVENT

Do not attend the event if you:

  • Have symptoms of COVID-19 (new persistent dry cough, fever, loss of taste or smell)

  • You have been tested positive for COVID-19 or onset of symptoms of COVID-19 in the last 10 days. (Individuals who have completed their period of isolation (10 days) and have no remaining symptoms (other than a dry cough or loss of taste or smell which can last for some time) may return to normal activities)

  • If a member of my household has had symptoms of COVID-19 or has tested positive for COVID-19 in the last 14 days

  • If you have been contacted by a contact tracer from the Test, Trace and Protect Programme and told to isolate in the last 14 days as a contact of someone with confirmed COVID-19

  • If you I have returned from a country outside of the UK in the last 14 days, other than those on the exempt list.

  • Any credit for the event will be credited to you to use on another event.

BEFORE & AFTER SESSIONS

Government information around social distancing is available here and should be read in full. Be aware guidance can change and restrictions may be reintroduced - please check with us if you are unsure about the guidelines for any reason.

BEFORE LEAVING HOME & AFTER YOU RETURN

Do not leave home or attend the session if you have COVID19 symptoms. Wash your hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds before leaving home to travel to an event (or use an alcohol gel if washing hands is not possible).

BOOKINGS

You must book online in advance. There will be a strictly capped number of places and if you have not booked one you may not be allowed to take part. If you can no longer make it, please cancel your space as soon as you are aware to allow others to attend. There can be no turn up on the day tickets allowed as we must keep record of all attendees at each session for track and trace purposes.

PAYMENT

For those who haven’t paid in advance, no cash payments are allowed. We can take card payments at the start of the session using a Square Up card payment app.

CANCELLATIONS

Please advise at least 1 day before the session if you are unable to attend or you may still be charged for the session.

EQUIPMENT

Take hand sanitizer with you. You will need to have this with you at the session and will need to use it during the session. The walk leader will carry sanitizer just in case.

Only take the equipment with you that you need and do not share anything with anyone else.

Clean and wipe down your water bottles and anything else you take before and after use.

TRAVELLING TO AND FROM THE SESSIONS

Avoid using public transport wherever possible, walk, jog, run or cycle if you can.

Arrive as close as possible to when you need to be there.

Avoid touching gates, fences, benches, etc. if you can.

Stand socially distanced from others before, during and after the session (including the instructor).

Avoid any social activity after the walk unless it is strictly within government guidelines.

DURING SESSIONS

MAINTAIN SOCIAL DISTANCING

Stay at least one always metres away (ideally 2m) from other members (including during session, before and after sessions).

Do not make physical contact with others (such as shaking hands or high fives).

Keep a social distance from members of the public who you may pass during the walk.

Avoid touching Avoid touching gates, fences, benches, stiles etc. if you can.

If you require sanitiser your group leader has some available to you.

When meeting members of the public on pathways move over to the left single file to let them pass safely.

EQUIPMENT & FACILITIES

Avoid using your hands to touch any equipment that you do not need to handle.

HYGIENE

 

If you need to sneeze or cough, do so into a tissue or upper sleeve. Avoid touching your face at all times.
Take regular hand sanitizer breaks, we recommend cleaning your hands at regular intervals, e.g. during water breaks.

 

SHOUTING

 

Members should avoid shouting as there’s additional risk of infection when conversing loudly in close proximity situations.
